Introduction

Hello! My name is Cayleb, I’m from Las Vegas and I am a first-year student majoring in Kinesiology (Pre-PT). My career aspirations include working somewhere in a medically related occupation (DPT, CAA, etc.)

My Reading and Writing Experiences

In school, I’ve always considered myself to be a relatively proficient writer regardless of the subject, genre, and task at hand. From a very young age, reading and writing was something that was instilled in me even prior to the beginning of my formal education, allowing me to ultimately navigate through reading and writing materials with more ease than most. I’ve always thought of reading and writing skills as something that can both be improved upon, and deteriorate over time, similar to how muscles can both atrophy and hypertrophy. With that in mind, out of school reading and writing is something that I’d often neglect or overlook because I’d always find those concepts superfluous when not in school. My current skills in reading and writing have gotten me this far, but it is to my knowledge that university-level work can differentiate from my prior experiences vastly. I can anticipate the upcoming difficulties and understand that staying at the same level might not get me far in my further education. That being stated, in this course I would like to learn how to improve on my argumentative writing as a whole. I’d like to learn how to properly draft my papers, and embrace the imperfect process.

My Literary Spaces

A few fandoms I am apart of are the sport teams of the Boston Celtics (NBA), and New England Patriots (NFL), along with the musical artist, Lil Uzi Vert. In these sport fandoms, reading and writing works through things like journalism, player analysis, and reading other online media and blogs about the opinions of what is happening to these teams. Being a fan of Lil Uzi Vert, reading and writing works in this fandom through his creative works in music, where we can analyze his various works and lyrics, and find deeper meaning in his artistry. The places I would often interact with people the most lies in my hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada. People differentiate and contrast so differently in the city, which made for many unique interactions in my life, especially at school alongside my closest friends. Some of my favorite things to talk about is sports and music. Throughout my four years of high school, having every day debates and discussion about these topics with my friends back home is something that has made many moments in my life worthwhile. Through our contrasting opinions and differences, on sports and music (sports especially), albeit slanderous at times, we would often create profound moments that resonate with me till this day. even though many of us are now at distance, I talk to these people about these things virtually on a near daily basis.
